Kerry solicitor passes away

THE death has occurred at his home in Killorglin, Co Kerry, of solicitor Michael C Ahern.

He was elected as an Independent member of Kerry County Council in 1985 and held the seat until 1991. He became a member of the Progressive Democrats and once stood as a general election candidate for the party in Kerry South.

Also keenly interested in the arts, he was a member of local drama groups in the Killorglin area.

Mr Ahern, who had been ill for some time, is survived by his wife, Maureen and sons, Mike, John, Brendan and Brian.
