Junior Minister’s office door vandalised, tweets pic of "scum" and curry

Aodhán Ó Riordáin tweeted a pictured of his office door this morning, after it was sprayed with curry and vandalised with the words "scum" and "traitors".

Expressing his frustration, the Labour TD said: "My office door this morning. This is getting ridiculous."

Minister of State for Equality, New Communities and Culture, Mr Ó Riordáin has spoken out against bullying in recent weeks, admitting he was targeted when at school.

He revealed when he was younger other children mocked his name, calling him "Gay-dan O Queer-don".

His tweet this morning received widespread attention, with friends, colleagues and members of the public condemning the vandalism.

Cllr Joe Ryan said: "That's disgusting and cowardly".

Meanwhile Ciara Conway TD admitted her office had also been subject to such attacks.

Mr Ó Riordáin has so far been unavailable for comment on the matter.
