GlaxoSmithKline jobs update

WORKERS at the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) plant in Currabinny, Co Cork, will know in the next couple of weeks if they are to lose their jobs as part of a company review.

A spokeswoman said the review was taking place at its manufacturing plant in Currabinny, where 425 people are employed.

She stressed the review was not taking place at the company’s other operations in Dungarvan, Co Waterford and Dublin.

“This review is only taking place in Cork and it is focusing on the manufacturing side of the plant and not its R&D operation,” the spokeswoman said.

The company employs 1,400 people in Ireland. It started a review of its Cork operation in the summer.
