One of the Irish students injured in the Berkeley balcony collapse yesterday marked three months since the tragedy by remembering her friends who died in the incident.
On her personal Facebook page,Clodagh Cogley posted a message remembering Eimear Walsh, Niccolai Schuster, Lorcán Miller, Eoghan Culligan, and cousins Ashley Donohoe and Olivia Burke.
“Today marks three months since Nick, Eoghan, Olivia, Eimear, Lorcán and Ashley were taken from us,” Clodagh wrote.
“I don’t have the words to describe the sadness of their passing, so all I will say is that I am thinking of their families and friends. They are deeply missed.”
Clodagh was one of those injured in the fourth floor balcony collapse in Berkeley, California, on June 16.
She is now in a wheelchair and has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation in a Dublin hospital since her return to Ireland last month.
Niall Murray, who recently spoke publicly of the horrific events and of his injuries, is due to return to Ireland this week while the last remaining injured student, Hannah Waters, will arrive home from the US by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, a fashion show in memory of a medical student who died in the Berkeley tragedy is to be held next month.
The Unite fashion show will be hosted by former TV3 Xposé presenter Lorraine Keane, and will be held at the luxurious Lyrath Estate on the edge of Kilkenny City on October 18 between midday and 6pm.
Also there to raise funds on the day, for the ongoing costly medical care for those who were injured in the balcony collapse, will be fashion guru Lisa Fitzpatrick along with So Sue Me, who has been voted Ireland’s number one fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger.
Last week, a remembrance ceremony was held at the O’Reilly Hall at University College Dublin for those killed and injured in Berkeley. Eimear Walsh, Niccolai Schuster and Lorcán Miller were UCD students.
