‘One of the best’ show venues

ONE of the best venues in Ireland — that was the verdict of Irish Shows Association national president John O’Hara from Co Mayo at last Sunday’s Bandon Show.

Another VIP visitor was Macra na Feirme president Alan Jagoe, who officially opened the event, stepping into the role of the scheduled show opener, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney, who was attending the state funeral of former Taoiseach Garrett Fitzgerald in Dublin.

Another Connacht visitor to the Castlebernard venue was Tom Reynolds from Barnacoola, Co Leitrim, and he made his trip worthwhile with wins in the Angus cattle section.

Nearer to home, Clonakilty horse producer Seamus Lehane yet again swept the boards with his young horses.

One of the attractions at the show was a display of the huge collection of trophies which Lehane won around Ireland for his horses last year.

Winning exhibitors were as follows (Co Cork addresses unless otherwise stated).
