Disinfectant cow spray mat to go on show

The Hoofcare SprayMat will be one of several new products on show at the RUAS Winter Fair in Belfast on Dec 12.

Developed by Vink, a Dutch family firm, the latest Hoof-care Spraymat hits all the right spots to keep dairy cows fit on their feet.

Cows walking on the mat automatically have their hooves sprayed with an uncontaminated, medicated liquid. It is designed to ensure each hoof is disinfected several times a week to keep contagious foot diseases at bay, and suits all milking systems, parlour or robotic.

The mat requires little maintenance, and can be left permanently positioned, for example at the entry or exit from a milking parlour or robotic milker.

The mat will be demonstrated by Agrihealth at the Belfast event.

In 2014, it will become available nationwide.
