Tech firm in €1m British expansion

AN Irish technology services company has announced it will invest €1 million in a significant British expansion.

IT Alliance, whose headquarters are in Dublin, is an outsourcing partner which supports the delivery of IT and other services of major companies worldwide.

The company generated revenues of about €20m in 2009 and is aiming to become a €100m revenue company in the next five years, with much of that growth expected to come from Britain. It employs 250 people in Ireland and 150 in Britain and is aiming for a slice of the British IT outsourcing market which is estimated to be worth €15 billion.

Delivery director Dara Mullen said that the company hopes to increase the number of staff employed in Britain and Ireland. She said: “There is good job growth in the UK... We would hope to see staff growth in Ireland towards the end of the year.”

IT Alliance chief executive Philip Maguire said that as a result of the global recession many outsource companies have had themselves cut back on spending.

He said: “The world’s leading outsource companies need to outsource for the same reasons that major corporations do, for cost and flexibility.

“We are in an ideal position to provide the services required to fulfil their needs.” IT Alliance already works with eight major clients in Ireland and six in Britain.
