Dublin: Small firms have created 230 jobs at 55 firms.
Small business group ISME said the jobs will be created in the services (26), manufacturing (15), retail (7) distribution (6) and construction (1) sectors.
ISME chief executive, Mark Fielding said it is “ironic” that in the week the ESRI outlined that there will be little or no net job creation in the economy over the next 12 months, small and medium businesses are bucking the trend.
“SME owner managers are starting the fight back, with evidence emerging of companies starting to create new employment despite the difficult trading conditions,” he said.
