Tommy Barker on five high-spec newly launched apartments in award-winning West Cork scheme
Waterfront, Clonakilty - €260,000
Size: 86 sq ft (930 sq ft)
THE tide is rising once more at Clonakilty’s award-winning Waterfront scheme, with the launch of five just-finished high-spec apartments in the mixed use development.
The contemporary scheme, with iconic copper ‘whale tail’ sculpture is refilling after the departure of a gaelscoil in a building original intended as a bank headquarters.
It is now due to host a craft distillery from next year, enabling multiple toasts to West Cork Clonakilty’s achievement of being voted Europe’s Best Town.
The Hillback-developed first six apartments of the Waterfront site which they bought from the GAA, had units of over 1,000 sq ft, and were resold individually by the building cluster’s recent purchaser Michael Scully over the past year, initially with asking prices from €185,000 and which fetched recorded prices from €192,500 to €245,000.
Now, the same joint selling agents Martin Kelleher and Ray O’Neill of Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill have five just-completed units in a separate block going to market, with lift access, and the first, a 930 sq ft two-bed duplex is launched at €260,000.
Features of the walk-in, all decked-out units include WiFi controlled heating and ovens, video intercom, walnut doors, marble tiling and deep pile carpets, en suite main bathroom, power showers, parking, and a setting between the town centre, and on the bay’s edge.
This section of the scheme is now also due to host the Clonakilty Distillery. The development will include an 80-seat cafe, and visitor centre.
