The best in Irish creativity and design was recognised at the annual Institute of Creative Advertising and Design (ICAD) awards last night.
The Irish Examiner picked up the ICAD Client award for its role in encouraging creativity in advertising based on its press and radio campaigns, created by advertising agency Chemistry.
A total of two gold, 15 silver and 65 bronze ICAD awards, or ‘Bells’, were handed out at the event in Vicar Street in recognition of the creative work of Ireland’s most talented advertising and design agencies.
Over 560 advertising, craft and design pieces were entered into the awards across print, digital, TV/cinema and radio. Some of the highlights included:
Commenting on the Client award win for the Irish Examiner Ray Sheerin, managing director of Chemistry, said: “The Irish Examiner is a very deserving winner of the ICAD Client Award 2015.
"The body of creative work across a wide range of media and very diverse product offerings — from sports to special investigations to the weekend supplement —demonstrates the Examiner’s commitment to and belief in the power of creativity in communications. And this award proves the power of creativity — against some of the biggest spending advertisers in the country.”
Irish Examiner editor Tim Vaughan and marketing manager Karen O’Donoghue described Chemistry as a “brilliantly creative and totally client-focused team who are fantastic to work with”.
Elaine McDevitt, managing director at ICAD, said of this year’s entries: “Once again the standard of entries was really high demonstrating some serious creative talent from agencies in Ireland. To have your work commended is a great achievement in itself and the winners can take great pride in the work they entered.”
“When you want to stand out among the myriad of media competing for people’s attention nothing speaks more clearly, or leaves a more lasting impression, than a great idea. This year those ideas were in abundance and ICAD is delighted to continue to reward and recognise these through our awards,” she said.
The oldest creative organisation of its kind in Europe ICAD is Ireland’s pre-eminent creative body.
