Government urged to cash in on visits

Dublin: Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA) national president Gabriel Gilmartin has called on the Government to fast track its Brand Ireland plans, the single umbrella brand for the entire Irish food sector.

He said it would be a “disastrous error” to miss out on publicity from the recent state visits of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and President Barack Obama.

Mr Gilmartin said: “Now is the time to turn that image boost into results for the country’s food exports.

“ICSA believes there is a need to inject extra funds into Bord Bia, and increase the spend on food promotion and marketing in the immediate future.”
