Campbell Catering owner back in black with €1.4m pre-tax profits

THE company that owns Campbell Catering swung back into the black last year with pre-tax profits of €1.4 million. This follows losses of almost €360,000 in the previous year.

Accounts just filed for catering and cleaning group, Aramark Ireland Holdings Limited for the year to the end of September 2009 show a dividend of €3.6m was paid in the year, up from €2m in the previous year.

The accounts read: “It is the intention of the directors to continue to develop the existing activities of the group.”

Risks include a fall in consumer demand caused by increased interest rates or inflation.

Four directors are listed in the accounts. They said they expect the general level of activity to continue for the foreseeable future, subject to the economic challenges currently being experienced.

Turnover in the year was down from €180m to €160m. The accounts show that almost €154m of turnover was generated in Ireland, with the rest generated in Britain.

The company employed 3,414 people in the year, down from 3,604 in the previous year.

Staff costs were lower at almost €79m from €83.3m in the previous year.

Campbell is a subsidiary of Aramark Ireland, in turn owned by the major US group of the same name. Headquartered in Dublin it has regional offices in Cork, Limerick and Belfast. In the US, the Aramark Corporation has been ranked consistently as one of the top three most admired companies in its industry by Fortune magazine.

Active in 22 countries, it employs 260,000 people worldwide.
