Belgian growth good for eurozone

Brussels: Belgium’s economy grew 0.7% in the second quarter after stagnating in the first three months of the year, in the first sign that the economic recovery in the eurozone picked up pace in April-June.

Gross domestic product in Belgium also expanded 2.2% from a year earlier, the fastest rate since the third quarter of 2007.

The pace of growth was faster than most banks had expected, based on a straw poll of Belgian economists.
