Site factors important in forestry

THE importance of ensuring the forests being planted are well adapted to the sites chosen was highlighted by Forestry Minister Tony Killeen when he officially opened a Coford-Teagasc conference in Tullamore yesterday.

This was fundamental to ensuring investment by the State and landowners in forestry was good value for money.

The conference provided an insight into how site factors impact on forests and how research is coming up with practical solutions to address these issues on the ground.
