Good afternoon. Here’s all the news you need to know this lunchtime.

IRELAND

The body of a man has been found close to the city centre in Cork.  The remains were found this morning on a path leading to flats at Rockgrove Terrace on the Lower Glanmire Road.

Finance Minister Michael Noonan has insisted that appealing against the Apple tax ruling that grants €13bn tax payment to Ireland is the right thing to do.  Earlier today, European commissioner Pierre Muscovici said he was "surprised" Ireland was turning down the money, which could be used for social programmes.

Met Éireann has issued yellow wind warnings for several areas.  It is warning of high winds in Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Coca-Cola is once again Ireland's biggest selling brand, for the 12th year in a row.  The annual list of the best selling grocery brands - the Checkout Top 100 Brands - has been published today and again shows a strong performance by home-grown Irish brands.

The Independent TD Stephen Donnelly has denied allegations  by his former party colleagues that he's work-shy.

Leo Varadkar has admitted the Government does have the power  to allow civilians to use bus lanes during the Dublin Bus strike.

An orbital cycling route around the city that will be suitable for both leisure and commuter bicycle trips; additional cycle lanes in the city centre; and an inter-urban network linking county town’s cycle paths have all been proposed  in a wide-ranging study of Cork’s cycling infrastructure.

It's a busy day for the Irish team at the Paralympics today,  with athletes in action from the early afternoon up until late tonight.

The Republic of Ireland U17s continued their preparations for the UEFA U17 Championships Qualifying Round with a 3-2 victory over Turkey yesterday, helped in no small part by this beauty of a goal  from Lee O’Connor.

BUSINESS

Three hundred and fifty six independent production companies last year made more than 1,400 pitches to RTÉ  to secure some of the €40.64m available to make television and radio programmes.

Rents continued to rise in August but the costs of insuring a car fell slightly from their elevated levels,  the latest consumer price index figures show.
