Watch the tense moment a driver escapes a car dangling from Texas parking garage

Bystanders have helped rescue a driver after a vehicle plunged off the ninth floor of a Texas parking garage and dangled from the side.

Austin Fire Department chief Palmer Buck said the driver later described how the vehicle did not stop as he slowly pulled into a parking spot on Friday.

The vehicle rolled through garage safety wire and flipped, then got caught and was left hanging.

Authorities said the safety wire became tangled in a wheel, preventing the car from falling several stories to the ground.

Bystanders helped the man unbuckle his seat belt and slipped him out the vehicle’s window – into the garage.

Austin firefighters safely lowered the car to the ground later on Friday.
