US drone 'kills 10' in Pakistan

Ten suspected militants have been killed in a missile strike by a US drone in north-west Pakistan near the Afghan border, intelligence officials say.

The Pakistan officials say the attack took place in a militant hideout in the North Waziristan tribal area. It was the second such attack in 24 hours in the region.

Most of those killed were Uzbek insurgents.

Drone strikes have become an increasingly contentious issue between the US and Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Parliament recently demanded the US end all drone strikes on its territory. The US has shown no intention of stopping the covert CIA programme.
