Two people have been killed in the crash of a passenger airliner at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, according to Russia’s Interior Ministry.

The plane, a Tupolev-204 twin-engine jet, went off the runway at Russia’s third-busiest airport this afternoon; it broke apart and caught fire.

News reports said about a dozen people were aboard and that several of them were seriously injured.

Ministry spokesman Gennady Bogachev said on state news channel Vesti that two people died.
