Two people were arrested in the UK after a toddler died in a flat fire, police said today.

A murder inquiry was launched after the 19-month-old girl died in hospital following the blaze in Camberwell, south east London, early yesterday morning.

A 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested late last night at an address in south London, Scotland Yard said.

The pair remain in custody at a south London police station.
