Spanish public protests at austerity measures

Demonstrations are continuing across Spain, in protest at the country's austerity measures and failure to tackle unemployment.

Twenty thousand people have gathered in Madrid's main square, defying a ban on protests in the run up to local elections.

The demo organisers are calling on people to boycott Spain's two main political parties, the Socialists and the centre-right opposition Popular Party.
