Reports of explosion near government offices in Beirut

There are reports of a large explosion in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

Local media is reporting a car in flames in the city centre, near the government offices.

It is understood the blast was targeted at the former Lebanese Minister Mohammed Shattah, but there is no word yet on his condition.
