Proposed law in Italy would see parents of vegan children jailed for four years

An Italian politician wants to jail parents who raise their children as vegans.

Elvira Savino has put forward legislation that would hold their parents responsible for their diet.

She said it is absurd that parents can impose their will on children when it comes to their diet.

The law proposes jail sentences of up to four years for raising children as vegans.

Glauce Ferrari founder and editor of 'All About Vegan Food' said that people can be a vegan at any stage.

"A vegan diet is perfectly healthy for any stage of life, including children and babies," she said.

"Today, the British Dietician Association and the American Dietician Association both assert that we can be vegans in any stage of life, we just need to plan well and make sure our children are getting everything they need."
