Police hunt for gang after teenage girl grabbed and raped in park

A teenage girl was snatched and raped by a gang of men in a park in England in the early hours of the morning, police said.

The 14-year-old was grabbed by three men and taken to a wooded area in Harrogate's Valley Gardens where she was subjected to the attack at 4am on Tuesday.

Officers are at the scene near Harlow Moor Road where they are "carrying out extensive investigations and offering the victim support", North Yorkshire Police said.

Detective Inspector Mark Pearson said: "The investigation is still in its early stages and I'd appeal to anyone who might know anything, or saw anything suspicious in the area, to contact the police immediately.

"Inquiries are ongoing and we are doing everything we can to find these men, while the victim is being supported by specially trained officers."

Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number NYP16022016-213, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
