Poland demands more from Obama over 'death camp' comment

Poland is insisting that the US express more than just regret over President Barack Obama's erroneous description of a Nazi Holocaust site as a "Polish death camp".

The White House later said the president misspoke and expressed "regret".

Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Mr Obama's words had hurt all Poles and he said he expected Washington could allow itself a stronger reaction than one of regret.

Between 1939 and 1945, nearly six million Polish citizens perished under Nazi Germany's brutal occupation of Poland.
