Pistorious fined for unpaid taxes

Oscar Pistorius has been fined for unpaid taxes after having to declare his assets in court during his bail hearing, according to a South African newspaper.

The City Press newspaper reported that the South African Revenue Service audited and fined the double-amputee runner “less than one million rand”, which he paid.

The Olympian is charged with premeditated murder for the Valentine’s Day shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his upmarket house in Pretoria in the pre-dawn hours of February 14.

Pistorius declared in a court affidavit during his application to be freed on bail in February that he earned around €485,000 a year and owned three houses and a vacant plot in South Africa with a combined value of nearly €770,000.
