One dead, two hurt in Tennessee State University shooting in Nashville

One person has been killed and two others are in hospital after a shooting at Tennessee State University in Nashville.

The fatal shooting on Thursday night was apparently prompted by a dispute over a dice game in an outdoor courtyard, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Twitter account.

Tanya Stone, operations supervisor for the Metro Nashville emergency communication centre, said she did not know if the three who were shot were students.

She said police are “all over the scene” and there is no indication of an active shooter.

Police blocked off an entrance to the university and made non-students leave the campus, the Tennessean newspaper reported.

University police dispatchers said they could not release any information.

The incident comes just over a week after three people were wounded by gunfire at an off-campus party across the street from the college.
