Obama: US preparing for tsunami

President Obama has said the US is preparing for a tsunami that could reach American shores.

A tsunami warning is in effect in the Pacific Ocean after a powerful earthquake measuring 8.8 struck Chile.

The epicentre was near the city of Concepcion and 200 miles from the capital Santiago.

The US president said his heart goes out to those affected.
