Nun killed in shooting at Russian cathedral

A gunman has opened fire in a cathedral on Russia’s Sakhalin Island off the Pacific coast, killing a nun and a parishioner and wounding six others.

The federal Investigative Committee said police detained the man, who works as a security guard.

Concerns about security in Russia are especially high because of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, but there was no apparent connection to the Games.
