Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has today accused the opposition party in his country of being a tool of former colonial ruler England.
Speaking as he met graduating police cadets, he also accused the Movement for Democratic Change of fanning violence.
Independent observers have said that while there have been some retaliatory attacks by the opposition, the vast majority of attacks have been carried out by Mr Mugabe’s supporters.
According to recent independent estimates in Zimbabwe, inflation has burst through the 1 million per cent barrier.
And weary Zimbabweans now face a new wave of massive price increases that put many basic goods out of reach.
