Man 'killed mother after she slapped him'

Mexican prosecutors said a 24-year-old man killed his mother after she slapped him for coming home high on drugs.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office said the man grabbed a knife his mother was using to cut up vegetables and stabbed her 25 times. He then fell asleep in the living room while his mother bled.

When he woke up, he allegedly scrubbed the kitchen, wrapped his mother in sheets and asked a security guard to help get the body into his car, saying it was a mannequin.

The agency said he dumped the body two blocks from his home. His arrest was announced in a statement.

A government study released last year found that the number of drug addicts in Mexico nearly doubled from 158,000 to 307,000 since 2002.
