Police in Edinburgh are refusing to comment on reports that a man has been detained as a major search for a missing three-year-old boy continues.

Mikaeel Kular was last seen going to bed at his family’s flat in Ferry Gait Crescent, Edinburgh, at around 9pm yesterday.

His mother discovered he was missing from his bed at around 7.15am today when the family woke up.

Sky News reported that a man has been detained at Waterfront Gait, a mile from where the boy lived.

Witness Donald Cockburn told the broadcaster he saw a black man being led away in handcuffs by police from a flat.

Police Scotland refused to comment on the reports.
