A man is fighting for his life following a speedboat accident off west Wales.
Lifeboat crews were called to Aberystwyth Harbour at 9.40am on Wednesday after reports of an empty 16ft vessel circling in the water.
Two men were pulled to safety and taken to hospital, with one described as being in a critical condition.
A spokeswoman for the RNLI's Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station said: "The lifeboat crew launched the Atlantic class lifeboat to reports of an empty boat circling in the bay with two persons in the water.
"The volunteer crew arrived on scene - approximately 500 metres offshore - and quickly pulled the men into the safety of the lifeboat.
"The volunteers immediately started first aid treatment on one of the casualties as they made their way back to shore. First aid treatment was continued on dry land by more crew until the Welsh Ambulance Service teams arrived."
After the men were taken to the town's Bronglais Hospital, lifeboat crews gained control of the spinning speedboat and brought it safely back to the marina.
