Man, 84, attacked with a cricket bat

An elderly man is being treated in hospital in England after being assaulted with a cricket bat.

Metropolitan Police said the 84-year-old man was attacked in his home in Lindisfarne Way, Hackney, east London, on October 31.

A spokesman said: “The 84-year-old victim was hit a number of times with a cricket bat.

“He was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital. He remains in hospital but will hopefully be discharged soon.”

Police are appealing for information to trace suspect John Burnham, 44.

Burnham – who is of no fixed address – is described as white and approximately 6ft.

Members of the public are advised not to approach him and should call 999.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
