London the world's best tourist destination

London has been named as the world's best tourist destination.

Millions of travellers who have left reviews on the tripadvisor website helped the city jump from 8th place last year - to overtake New York, Rome and Paris.

London was praised for its great hotels, West End shows, shopping and free attractions like parks and museums.

Laurel Greatric is from Tripadvisor.

"…it's based on feedback from millions of travellers around the world…if you look at the top attractions on London the majority of the top ten are West End shows", she said.

"… and obviously the diamond jubilee, the Olympics and the royal wedding haven't hurt at all".
