Former US President Carter leaves hospital

Former US President Jimmy Carter left an Ohio hospital tonight where he spent two days recovering from a viral infection.

The 85-year-old ex-president waved to the media as he left Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Centre.

He will resume his schedule with a meeting this week in Washington D.C.

Carter fell with stomach pains during a Delta Air Lines flight on Tuesday from Atlanta to Cleveland, causing rescue crews to rush him to the hospital after the plane landed.

His medical team recommended that he stay for two nights for monitoring.
