Former Mafia boss shot dead in Toronto

A former Mafia Boss has been shot dead at his home in Toronto.

Rocco Zito was a senior member of the Ndrangheta mafia - which is based in Calabria in Southern Italy.

The Ndrangheta mafia operates the biggest cocaine smuggling network in Europe according to Italian police.

The 87 year-old's son in law has handed himself in, but police have not yet disclosed a motive for the murder.

Police have said officers arrived at Mr Zito’s home on Friday and found a man with gunshot wounds.

Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but he died of his injuries.
