EU to discuss introducing bodyscanners at airports

The issue of introducing body scanners in airports throughout Europe is up for debate at the European Parliament in Strasbourg today.

The controversial security measures are already in place in many UK airports, including Heathrow.

An impact evaluation report is due to be carried out by the European Commission over the next few weeks.

It will look at their impact on health, the effectiveness of the scanners and passenger’s fundamental rights.
