Eight killed in Mexico gun attack

Gunmen killed eight people in an attack on a bar in the northern Mexico city of Monterrey.

Four victims died at the scene of the attack and four others died in hospital. A ninth man was found dead inside a muffler shop after apparently falling as he tried to flee the attack across a rooftop.

Another person was being treated for wounds suffered in the shooting.

Nuevo Leon state security spokesman Jorge Domene said some of the victims of the attack at the Matehuala bar were employees. Monterrey has been the scene of bloody turf battles between the Zetas gang and the Gulf drug cartel.
