Cult followers disappear

Five adults and eight children from a “cult-like” group in Southern California have been reported missing by their families, police said.

Some of them left letters indicating they were awaiting the end of the world.

Police said the group had been members of a mainstream Christian church where concern had been expressed about the group’s unorthodox beliefs.

The authorities said they are searching for three vehicles belonging to the group.
