Boy killed, three injured, by fallen sign in modernised airport

A 10-year-old boy has been killed at an airport in Alabama after a huge arrivals/departures sign fell on him.

Two other children and their mother are in hospital and the woman is said to be in a critical condition.

It took six people to lift the heavy sign off the injured.

The airport in Birmingham, Alabama, has only just completed the first phase of a $200m modernisation.
