There was a massive increase in live cattle exports in 2017. Calf exports lead the way, calves are ideally
weaned when they are seven to eight months old.
Figures show some 116,061 head of cattle were exported last year.
Do people realise the animals exported live from EU countries are routinely subjected to abuse, illegal transportation conditions and inhumane slaughter?
Undercover videos show EU cattle being beaten, given electric shocks, held for days in overcrowded pens and covered head to toe in faeces as they are transported from Europe to their final destinations in Turkey and the Middle East.
The footage shows calves kicking and flailing violently as their throats are crudely cut or sawed at repeatedly, often in rundown abattoirs, as the seven to eight-month-olds are inhumanely slaughtered in conditions that breach European law.
