JFK assassination: New movie has a new theory

The bullet that killed President John F Kennedy in November, 1963 has never stopped travelling. Ever since that fateful day in Dallas there have been dozens of theories about who was responsible for his death.

A new movie called The Irishman offers a new twist to the tragic tale, positing not the who but the why. Starring Hollywood heavyweights Al Pacino and Robert de Niro, it argues that an unholy alliance between the mafia and Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa led to his death. Nothing new in that, but what is new is that the President was not their main focus.

According to the movie’s narrative, the Mafia and Hoffa were in the sights of Robert Kennedy, the president’s brother and attorney general. John F Kennedy was assassinated by the mafia because they believed

that

his brother was destroying them with his investigations. The hit was also sanctioned by Hoffa who was a special target of the AG’s crime task force.

According to Frank, ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran, an enforcer for the Buffalino crime family, JFK was killed because the president would have increased surveillance of the mafia if his brother had been killed by them. They expected Lyndon B Johnson to sack Robert Kennedy when he became president, but he didn’t. Robert Kennedy was killed in 1968, after accepting the presidential nomination for the Democrats, effectively signing his own death warrant.

As JFK conspiracy theories go, it’s better than most.
