It has been a bad few days for cyclists interacting with pedestrians.
On Thursday, Tour de France leader Chris Froome was sent flying in a crash involving cyclists and spectators.
And over the weekend this crash was caused by a pedestrian walking straight out in front of a peloton travelling at more than 50kph.
Video from Euronews.
The huge pile-up happened in the final kilometres of the opening stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake in China.
Video footage shows the man cross the road in the city of Xining. The first couple of cyclists manage to avoid him, but multiple cyclists soon collide with him, leading to a massive pile-up of riders and bikes.
FYI walking in front of a bunch at 2km to go doing 75kmh for a pic is not a good idea !!! One of the worst crashes I have seen! #TDQL2016— Nathan Elliott (@n_sumo23) July 17, 2016
Media reports indicate the pedestrian was detained by police and taken to hospital for treatment while a number of competitors were also injured in the crash.
