WATCH: Jurgen Klopp: Only reason to be in competitions is to win

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was bullish this afternoon at his pre-match press conference, insisting the only reason his side are involved in the Cup competitions is to win them.

Liverpool face Stoke tomorrow night in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final.

“If you don’t try to go for it, it’s a waste of time,” Klopp said about participation in the Capital One Cup.

“It’s not a real target to be in a final and be part of the final and then lose the final.

“Only one reason to be in this tournament is to win it.”

Klopp is looking for his side to recover from their 2-0 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, a performance he described afterwards as “not enough”.
