Towcester frozen out

Towcester’s meeting on St Stephen's Day has been abandoned due to frost and snow.

Officials at the Northamptonshire circuit were, following another night of sub-zero temperatures, resigned to the loss of the fixture after staging a 9am inspection.

Towcester general manager Kevin Ackerman said: “We’ve abandoned early because the forecast is not encouraging at all.

“The track is frozen and there is also a covering of two inches of snow. There’s icy conditions forecast leading into Boxing Day so it’s the right decision for everyone concerned to call off the meeting early.”
