Katie Taylor has retained her World Championship crown for the fourth time.
The Bray lightweight defeated Russia’s Sofya Ochigava in Beijing this morning by 11 points to 7.
It was a close contest all the way in a very technical bout with the opponents level 4-4 after the first two rounds, before Katie pulled away in the third round to lead by two.
The fight finished off 11-7 to Taylor who now looks forward to winning an Olympic title in London in the summer.
Today's win means Taylor is now likely to be in the top seed for the draw in the London Olympics.
