Sx3 sign US player ahead of weekend

Unbeaten ESB Basketball Superleague side Sx3 Star have boosted their title challenge by signing a new American player ahead of their weekend game with struggling Dart Killester.

Star have replaced Willie Bryant, who flies back to the States tomorrow, with 6'3" Anthony Pieper, who last played in Ireland in 2000 with Clare Jets.

League leaders Hibernian UCD Marian are likely to continue their reign at the top, however, as they face lowly Tolka Rovers at home.

BurgerKing Limerick have a full squad ahead of the clash with winless Gleneagle Lakers in Killarney, for whom Vincent Daly is expected to play despite a broken finger.

UCC Demons take on Irish Travel Partner Saints on Sunday with a doubt over ankle injury victim Shane Coughlan. Saints, though, will gain from GAA club Na Fianna's expulsion from the Dublin county championships with Karl Donnelly now able to concentrate solely on basketball.

In the women's Superleague, Sasha Meteors take on Tolka Rovers in an all Dublin clash. Meteors were on fire last weekend when they defeated Killester and despite an ankle injury to Lorraine Scully, they are back on form and will give Tolka a good run.

Tolka Rovers are still without Elaine Scally and Nikki O'Brien.

Dart Killester are in action against Tipperary Talons and will welcome Carmel Kissane back but will be without Alison Nolan for the coming weeks. Bausch & Lomb Wildcats are away to Glanmire on Sunday and are likely to be without Martina Jerant again this weekend.
