Strong Suit swerves Lockinge Stakes

Strong Suit has been taken out of this afternoon’s JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury leaving Frankel to face five rivals.

Richard Hannon issued a ground proviso at Thursday’s declaration stage that Strong Suit would not run unless the ground was suitable and it has not dried up enough.

The official going description on the straight course is good, good to soft in places.

Speaking on Channel 4’s The Morning Line, Strong Suit’s intended jockey Richard Hughes said: “We just thought we’d wait until the ground was a little bit better.

“It’s just riding a little bit slow and he needs really good ground.

“We’ll wait for another day.”

Hughes now switches to Strong Suit’s stablemate Dubawi Gold who was second to Frankel in the 2000 Guineas last season.
