Stephen Kenny: Dundalk ready to grasp 'great opportunity' of Europa League football

It's an historic night for Dundalk as they play their first ever game in the group stages of the Europa League.

AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands provide the opposition for Stephen Kenny's men, with kick-off at 6pm.

The side were previously managed by Louis Van Gaal and are strong favourites to come out on top.

However Kenny said they are going into the game in high spirits.

"We view it as a great opportunity, six fantastic games for us," Kenny said this afternoon.

"It's new opposition and clubs with great experience. Zenit St Petersburg have won the competition in recent times, these are big clubs.

"We view it in a positive light and will try and meet every challenge head on."

The other game in Group D sees Maccabi Tel Aviv play host to Zenit St. Petersburg.

Yesterday the team gave some travelling fans a lift to the airport, so we expect a noisy showing of support in the Netherlands.

But whether they are there are the grounds or watching from home - Dundalk fans will enjoy the start of their European adventure

The game is being shown live on Eir Sport.
