WATCH: A moment of exceptional fair play on the football pitch

We don’t often feature highlights from the fifth division of the German football league system but we’re going to make an exception for a recent game between FC Bocholt and Baumberg.

Bocholt were behind in the game but looked threatening as they produced some excellent teamwork in front of the opposition goal.

Unfortunately their striker Timo Munoz stumbled and fell over before he could finish the move.

However Bocholt still had a chance to score when the referee misread the situation and awarded them a penalty.

To Munoz’ eternal credit, he went straight to the referee (who was surrounded by outraged Baumberg players) and let him know that he had made a mistake.

The ref reversed his decision and Munoz received a kiss of gratitude from one of his opponents.

Let’s hope his teammates were equally pleased with his sporting gesture - Bocholt went on to lose 3-1.
